KARACHI : New BIEK rules to ensure class attendance

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 7: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has decided to issue notices to all its affiliated colleges seeking attendance reports of their students on a monthly basis.

A senior official told Dawn that the objective of the practice was to evolve a system to improve the falling class attendance at colleges. The colleges were being asked to ensure that the attendance reports reached the BIEK by the 10th of every month, BIEK Chairman Anwar Ahmed Zai said on Friday.

He said the board had taken the decision after observing the lack of interest on the part of students in attending classes. Inspection teams would visit the affiliated colleges after every three months to check the attendance and tally the record with the reports sent to the board, he added.
