Police to verify all rented places

LAYYAH, Oct 24: The police will launch from Nov 1 a house-to-house search to verify the credentials of people living in rented houses throughout the district, DPO Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem told Dawn on Saturday.

"Owners of the rented houses in all the seven police station of the district have already been instructed to submit to the police details about the anecdotes of their tenants," the DPO added.

The DPO said that SHOs had been tasked with collecting the data of all the rented houses so that suspected elements could be spotted.

He appealed to the owners of the rented houses to cooperate with the police in the larger national interest.

INSPECTION: District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Rasheed Qamar inspected various departments and premises of the district courts to check the security arrangement. Office-bearers of the district bar association accompanied the district judge.

The judge urged the bar members to pay special attention to the security of their chambers and keep a vigilant eye on every visitor.

ARRESTED: The police have arrested an alleged arms and drugs trafficker and seized from him 513 grammes of chars (hashish), two guns, four pistols, 700 bullets and cartridges.

The Chowk Azam police registered separate cases against the suspect identified as Ahmed Shair of Chumb village of Wanbachran in Bakhar district.

He was produced before a local court which granted him bail in possession of illegal arms case and awarded two-day physical remand in narcotics case.
